Chapter 7 - A matter of days
“Luke” I whispered, not knowing how to react. He did nothing but lay above me, staring so deeply into my eyes I felt a tug in my chest.
The door swung open then, causing Luke to slowly sit back up. “Sorry to interrupt your little love fest, but we’re having a really intense game of Mario kart on the Wii, and we need more players before I literally strangle Calum.” Michael said sarcastically. Luke looked over at me, not quite sure what to say. “Sure we’ll be down in a second” he replied. “Alright, but hurry up pleaseee” he said closing the door on his way out.
I kneeled up and took Luke’s face between my hands, placing a soft kiss on his lips. “Come on, let’s go” I smiled. With that we made our way downstairs to find Calum and Michael jokily arguing with each other and Ashton commentating the game. “So who am I playing first?” I said sitting down on a leather sofa which there was two of, one which had the other boys on and the one that Luke joined me on. Michael stood up and handed Luke and I a Wii remote, “We’re gonna have a four player game because Ashton prefers to commentate” Calum said. “Hey it’s only because I’m shit at Mario Kart!” he giggled, which made me laugh. We started the game and while I was winning, the other boys were getting really competitive “YOU’RE LITERALLY CHEATING” I got from Michael about seven times. “I SWEAR IF YOU THROW ONE OF THEM FUCKING MUSHROOMS AT ME AGAIN YOU’RE SLEEPING OUTSIDE” Calum shouted. By the end of the game I was almost crying with laugher, mostly because I’d come in first place. “That’s the first and last time you play Wii with us” Luke said, taking my controller. “You just can’t handle it because I won” I teased, to which Luke started tickling my sides until I rolled onto his lap. “Guys I’m puking stop” Ashton laughed.
“If I go and get some popcorn can we watch a movie I’m bored of commentating” Ashton pleaded. “Yeah I’ll come and help” I politely offered. “You guys pick the movie” Ashton said as we made our way to the kitchen.
Luke’s P.O.V
As soon as Lexi left the room Michael gave it no time before he started asking questions. “So don’t think I didn’t see you when I came in earlier, what’s going on with you guys man?” “Ughhh I don’t know” I sighed and laughed at the same time. “Do you like her?” Calum questioned. “Yeah.. like a lot, she’s not like the other girls we meet” I confessed. “In what way?” Michael asked confused. “I dunno, she’s just so honest and real, usually when we meet new people they’re always a bit fake you know?” “Yeah it pisses me off” Calum stated. “She’s not like that, at all” I shook my head. “Well she seems really cool to me, but you haven’t known her long so don’t let your guard down too early” Michael calmly warned. “Don’t worry, I won’t”
“You won’t what?” Lexi asked plopping down next to me with a bowl of popcorn, and a plate piled of cold pizza which she placed on the table, Ashton following behind her trying to carry 5 cans of Coke in his hands which was an interesting sight. “Nothing” I smiled placing a soft kiss on her cheek.
Calum stood up to turn off the lights and close the curtains so it was dark, grabbing some pizza before sitting back down in between Ash and Michael. He turned on a horror film I’d never seen before, and we all sat silently munching on food, consumed by the screen. About ten minutes into the film I sneaked my hand around Lexi’s waist to urge her towards me, realising I was craving her touch. She looked up and glanced at my lips before she cuddled up to me, placing her head on my chest and intertwining our fingers. Slowly rubbing her thumb across my hand gave me a sense of comfort. I heard what Michael had said about keeping my guard up, but really I had fallen head over heels for her in a matter of days.
The film was pretty jumpy, I could feel Lexi tensing up every now and then which caused me to rub her waist, and tighten my hand with hers. I placed a soft kiss on her head when I noticed her hand loosened with mine as I was sure she’d fallen asleep. I didn’t want to move and wake her, but as my hand made touch with her arm I realised her skin was cold. I slowly and gently slipped off the hoodie I was wearing, and placed it over the top of her being careful not to wake her. I felt myself growing tired as the movie went on, Ashton was asleep in the corner, and Mike and Cal were both dozing too.
I decided it was time to go to bed, so I hooked my arms under Lexi’s legs to pick her up, and made my way up the stairs with her asleep in my hold. The innocence on her face was beautiful. She was still wrapped in my hoodie when I pushed my bedroom door open with my back, closing it with my foot. I carefully laid her onto my bed, then walked over to change into a loose fitting t-shirt and slipped my jeans off so I was left in my boxers. I switched my bedroom lamp off before climbing into bed, and pulling the covers up and over Lexi and me. I turned over to face her, and noticed she was holding my hoodie up to her face, nuzzling into it. I placed a soft kiss to her head, and attempted to fall asleep. My mind was spinning for hours, my own thoughts were keeping me awake. What happens after this week is over and she goes home? Is this going to be it? I’d never really felt this way about a girl before. We meet a lot of girls while we’re touring, girls that I guess kind of throw themselves at us because we’re in the spotlight. It’s not often I meet girls almost by accident, and it turns out like this.
“Luke?” Lexi croaked out quietly, snapping me out of the thoughts in my head. “Yeah Lex?” “I don’t remember coming to bed” she stated, confused. “You fell asleep while we were watching the film so I carried you upstairs earlier” I explained. “Oh..” she replied, her eyes meeting mine. “Cuddle meee” she said, outstretching her arms. “Come here then you loser” I laughed, pulling her towards me, wrapping my arms tightly around her as she nuzzled her face into my neck. After a while I released my grip on her and she laid tucked against my side with her hand on my chest. Just as I was falling asleep, Lexi whispered “I’m falling for you too”.
